The Miracle League of Green Bay is now preparing for its fifth season?  It had 165 athletes on 12 teams last year and still growing? Come join us!

Who is eligible to play in the Miracle League?

Any child with a mental or physical challenge, who may be otherwise unable to enjoy playing the sport of baseball, ages of 4 to 19, from anywhere in the Northeastern Wisconsin area.

2.      Where will games be played?

At Resch Miracle Field at Optimist Park in Allouez, the corner of Libal St. and Kalb Ave.

3.      When will the Season start? 

The 2010 season opening day will be Saturday, June 5, 2010.  Registration deadline is April 9th.

4.   Where can I register?

Registration forms can be found on the Green Bay Miracle League web site:  http://www.greenbaymiracleleague.com/

Print out the form and send it in with the Player Release. Check the site for updates and the option of registering on-line. or call Paul Liegeois, Founder/Executive Director at 920-497-2298. E-mail him at LiegeoisPaul@aol.com.  All players need to return a completed Registration Form, with fee, and a Player Release form by the April 9th Deadline.

5.      Is the field handicap accessible?

ThThe field is rubber surfaced, completely safe, and handicap accessible. The new field was dedicated in 2007 and named “Resch Miracle Field.”  In addition, the park also has the “Favre Family Miracle Recreation Area” - a shelter, with bathrooms and concession stand, and newly added, handicap accessible playground equipment.

What is the cost to participate? 
Cost per participant will again be $45 for 2010, which includes a major league look-alike team jersey, a baseball cap, and player insurance through the league.  Team sponsors and scholarship donors help to defray costs of any child that has a hardship in paying the fee.  No child will be turned away for inability to pay.

What times will games be played?

The 2010 season starts Saturday, June 5th  with an Opening Ceremony.  All teams play on opening day. Except for one other Saturday for Awards & Closing Day, which will be Saturday, August 7th, all  other games are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. & 7 p.m.   Each team would play once per week. How are volunteers involved?

Each player is matched with an able-bodied buddy.  Buddies have strict rules to adhere to and assist the participant with batting, fielding, getting around as much as or as little as needed.  The player bats, fields, rounds bases, as nearly close to actual baseball league rules as he/she is capable of.  In addition, each team will have a coach and team mom.  Players are pitched to, according to their ability to bat, and may use a tee as necessary.  Every player bats each inning, all batters are safe, last batter hits a home run.  Games last two innings. Score ends in a tie.  Volunteers are needed. If you would like to volunteer to be a buddy for a child, contact us or check the web site for a Volunteer Registration Form.

What type of baseball is used?

The official Miracle League baseball is a regulation baseball-sized rubber ball, the kind used in T-Ball.
 
How did the Miracle League start?


The first Miracle League field opened in Conyers, Georgia, in April 2000. Word spread and, as of 2010, there were 265 communities in the U.S. with Miracle Leagues started.  Over one half of those have or are in progress of constructing the special-surface fields.  The Miracle League Association has an aggressive plan to help 500 communities, like ours, all over the globe, build baseball complexes.

Is Miracle League a non-profit organization?

The Miracle League of Green Bay is a 501c3, tax exempt,  non-profit, charitable organization.

Where does the Miracle League ge its funding?

Funding is solely through public   contributions, team sponsors, participant fees, and league sponsorship donations.  Contributions are welcome. If you would like to contribute or sponsor a child, contact the League at the contact information   below.
